Property Controller  

Summary: Our rapidly growing small commercial real estate client conveniently located in South Charlotte is looking for a highly motivated and hands on Property Controller join their team! The Property Controller will be able to work on a hybrid (remote/onsite) and will be managing the entire property accounting process with a portfolio 10 properties across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, which is soon going to double in size! The best fit will be someone who is willing to work hard and wear many hats, and is eager to grow! This is an exciting time to join this organization and help develop new processes and build a team as it continues to grow!

Location: Charlotte, NC (South Park) – Able to work a flexible HYBRID Schedule!

Direct Hire Compensation: $110,000-150,000 + 20%+ bonus (depending on experience and overall fit)

Direct Reports: None currently

Responsibilities:

• Provide accounting oversight of property management division

• Manage all accounting functions on accrual and cash basis for portfolio of commercial retail properties

Interacted with on-site property managers to address and resolve tenant inquiries, monitor accounts receivable transactions and process incoming invoices

Maintain accuracy of rent roll and tenant information

• Reconcile inter-company balances, review accounts payable, prepaid rent, and property expenses.

• Audit and manage all bank deposits, credit card charges and internal expense reports.

• Maintain general ledgers and prepare financial statements.

• Perform month-end closing process including bank reconciliations and adjusting journal entries.

• Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.

• Assist in due diligence efforts including lease review, rent roll analysis, expense reconciliation, etc.

• Review of tax basis and maintain books and records to GAAP Financial Statements

• Participate in process improvement initiatives that support the growth strategy, strong system of internal controls and operational excellence.

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's degree preferred

• Must have 5-10 years’ of overall progressive full-cycle accounting experience

• Must have recent experience in commercial property accounting
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced changing environment and wear many hats
