Sr. Native Android Developer

Our client is looking for an experienced Sr. Native Android Developer to join their team! This is a great opportunity for anyone who enjoys a high energy and fast-paced working environment. Location: Remote

Contract: 6 Months (Possibility of extension)

W2 Pay Rate: $63-67 hourly (flexible depending on experience)

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and uphold Full stack engineering best practices
• Collaborate with designers & product managers to iterate on the design & implementation of our product
• Work with Engineers from our consumers to build and ship features
• Design a framework for creating services that grows with the needs of the company
• Monitor performance, watch for traffic drops related to usability problems & rectify the issues
• Review app and feature code, and plan future API upgrades with the development team
• Assist in the development of applications & features that will be put on the website, mobile app, and external client apps
• Stay up to date on emerging technologies
• Software & Collaboration Qualifications
• 8+ years of Server-side development experience with Node.js and Java / Spring
• Significant knowledge of Frontend web development stack with JavaScript / CSS and Angular or React
• Knowledge of SQL Database and NoSQL Databases (MongoDB / Cassandra )
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills
• Experience with modern micro-service architecture
• Proven Experience in building RESTful APIs and a deep understanding of REST principles
• Detail oriented and work well in a team and individually
• Self-starter with strong initiative and ability to work under pressure
• Understanding of the entire development process (design, development and deployment)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to prioritize work and complete tasks with quick turnaround times
• Excellent organizational, time, and project management skills
• Business-minded approach to time, costs, and deadlines
• Minimum Technology Qualifications
• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
• In-depth knowledge of Python
• In-depth knowledge of Spark
• In-depth knowledge of Big Data, data engineering, databases, data wrangling, relational databases
• Exposure to Azure
• Exposure to Data Science principles
• Exposure to REST and scalable APIs
• Exposure to Flask or another python web framework
• Exposure to server-side development in Python
• Exposure to systems design and architecture
• Experience estimating, developing, releasing, and supporting backend code in production environments
• Excellent judgement, problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to operate semi-independently

Software & Collaboration Qualifications

• Strong experience using Kotlin
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills
• Experience with modern Android libraries and tooling including Jetpack
• Detail oriented, works well in a team and individually
• Self-starter with strong initiative and ability to work under pressure
• Understanding of the entire mobile development process (design, development, testing and releases)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to prioritize work and complete tasks with quick turnaround times
• A solid understanding of best practices and techniques regarding scalability, performance, and security
• Design and UX sensibilities are a plus.

Minimum Technology Qualifications

• 5+ years developing Android Apps (using Android and 3rd party libraries/frameworks)
• 5+ years Java experience
• Prior Android Developer Lead experience a plus
• Prior experience with project planning with large size or highly complex projects
• A solid understanding of mobile application development processes, from the layout/user interface to backend systems and API integrations
• A solid understanding and appreciation for Agile tools, processes, and methodology
• Ability to interact well in a team environment
• Strong organization skills to manage multiple timelines and complete tasks quickly within the constraints of clients’ timelines and budgets
