Cloud Operations Manager

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We have migrated data center to AWS and we need a manager to come in and help drive an operations model for cloud operations. Minimum of 2 years of AWS experience is required. They will be a manager with 6-8 ops engineers under them (4 perm, 2-4 contractors).

 

The engineering team is the one building out the platform that the operations team will be using. Once in production the operations team supports the platform regarding monitoring, alerting and incident management. Agile delivery, running scrums and using Jira. Yes, vendor management experience is important, and they will be working with off shore teams. We normally work in manually driven provision systems and then turn it over to multiple teams. In the cloud we build toward pipeline under code into a platform. Use code to automate and document.

 

Salary Range: $120K - $140K

Location: 100% remote for now, will need to relocate to Charlotte once everyone is working back in office.

W2 Pay Rate: $65 – 75hr

C2C Pay Rate: $75 – 85hr

JOB SUMMARY:

As a member of the Platform Services Management Team, the Manager reports to the Director and is charged to understand the goals/objectives of the team, and to provide clear leadership and coaching to ensure that all members of the team understand their roles/responsibilities and are positioned for success.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years AWS experience
  • Strong platform operations background for services running in AWS
  • Strong CI/CD experience. Maintaining pipelines of operational automation
  • Build and manage SLA/RTO/RPO with customers
  • Strong monitoring, alerting and incident management automation experience
  • AWS patch management using AWS Systems Manager automation
  • Strong continuity management including backup & restore, high availability and disaster recovery
  • Strong AWS cost management experience. Experience implementing tagging, savings plans, reserved instances and building executive dashoards
  • Ability to lead and motivate highly skilled engineers
  • Strong communication skills
  • Can-do attitude a must

 

DESIRED

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • ITIL certification highly desired.
  • AWS certification highly desired
