We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, implement, and support the core systems that enable enterprise data integration, analytics, and data science initiatives.
This is a hands-on engineering position. The data and analytics team is intentionally small and highly collaborative, giving engineers significant ownership and direct influence over architecture, development, and platform improvements. Rather than focusing on process management, you'll spend your time writing code, building data pipelines, optimizing performance, and solving complex technical challenges.
You'll collaborate with both onshore and offshore engineering teams while contributing directly to a shared codebase and helping establish engineering best practices across the organization. This role also offers the opportunity to explore how emerging technologies, including AI and agentic tooling, can improve software development, data quality, and platform operations.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise data pipelines and integration solutions
- Build and support data ingestion, transformation, aggregation, and modeling processes using both batch and streaming frameworks
- Develop and maintain layered data architectures, including raw, staging, and curated data environments
- Optimize pipeline performance, reliability, and cloud compute costs
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and automated data quality processes
- Develop reusable frameworks and libraries that enable self-service analytics
- Support downstream consumers, including analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders
- Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to engineering quality standards
- Collaborate in an Agile development environment with distributed engineering teams
- Contribute to CI/CD, deployment automation, and DevOps best practices
- Assist with production support, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis
- Explore opportunities to leverage AI-driven development and automation tools
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
- 6+ years of experience in data engineering or software engineering (8+ years preferred)
- Experience designing, building, and supporting production data systems
- Strong SQL development skills, including query optimization and execution plan analysis
- Experience building and maintaining ETL and ELT pipelines
- Experience working with orchestration frameworks such as Airflow, Azure Data Factory, dbt, Matillion, SSIS, or similar technologies
- Experience with modern cloud data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Redshift, BigQuery, or comparable environments
- Experience with both batch and streaming data pipelines
- Understanding of data modeling methodologies, including relational, dimensional, Kimball, or Data Vault approaches
- Experience implementing monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes
- Experience with source control, CI/CD, and DevOps practices
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, or Lakeflow
- Experience with CDC, Kafka, or other real-time data integration technologies
- Experience working with REST APIs and multiple ingestion patterns
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other analytics platforms
- Experience collaborating with offshore engineering teams
- Experience using AI tools to improve engineering workflows
- Experience supporting master data management or entity resolution initiatives
