Staff Accountant | HYBRID

Opportunity: Contract until mid-June
Schedule: Monday – Friday (3 days REMOTE)
Location: Charlotte, NC
Payrate: $31/hour

Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) to determine which associates are covered by the union agreement, eligibility for benefits, rates, probation periods, etc.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, payments, and reconciliations.
  • Act as a liaison between field operations, unions, and corporate functions such as Labor Relations, Field Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Payroll.
  • Auditing all union associates for deductions, deduction amounts, payroll coding and hire and/or termination dates monthly to ensure compliance with contract terms.
  • Ensure assigned balance sheet accounts reflect the correct balance and are reviewed and reconciled monthly.
  • Ensure accounting conforms to the Group Accounting Policies and Procedures and maintains our internal controls.
  • Provide excellent customer service and support to internal/external stakeholders.
  • Provide ad hoc reports to field operations and unions.
  • Researching and explaining variances when a material discrepancy exists between accrued union benefit expenses posted by the operations and actual union benefit expenses paid by the accountant.
  • Identify best practices within the role and strive to improve processes and efficiencies.

Qualifications:
  • Four-year degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years of accounting/finance experience
  • Strong foundational understanding of accounting principles
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs, SAP a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to effectively communicate with a variety of disciplines and diverse groups of people
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with ever-changing business needs
  • Strong analytical skills
