Senior Payroll Specialist
Our client is a leading construction solutions provider serving healthcare, financial services, commercial, administrative, and light-industrial sectors. With a reputation for delivering high-quality results and a strong base of repeat clientele, they are seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to join their HR team. The Senior Payroll Specialist will oversee and manage all aspects of payroll processing for the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery. This role will also support broader HR initiatives, including benefits administration, compliance, and employee data management.
Location: 100% on-site in Charlotte, NC
Opportunity: Contract through December
Compensation: $35-$40/hour
Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle payroll processing for all employees, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain accurate payroll records, employee data, and compensation information within ADP Workforce.
- Review and audit timesheets, wage computations, and adjustments to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Administer payroll-related tasks such as tax withholdings, garnishments, deductions, and direct deposits.
- Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, and stay up-to-date on payroll tax regulations and changes.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for payroll and timekeeping systems; provide training and guidance to internal users.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to support compensation planning and benefits integration.
- Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding processes as they relate to payroll and benefits.
- Coordinate annual processes such as W-2 generation, year-end tax reporting, and payroll audits.
- Support administration of employee benefits programs (401k, open enrollment, etc.) and serve as backup for benefits-related inquiries.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure data security for all payroll and employee information.
Qualifications:
- 4–6 years of direct payroll experience, preferably in a multi-state environment.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) preferred.
- Proficiency in payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, Paycom, or similar platforms).
- Strong understanding of payroll compliance, wage and hour laws, and tax regulations.
- Experience handling benefits coordination and integration with payroll systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
