Construction Accountant
CRG has partnered with a small established Construction company in Charlotte, NC that has been in business for over 30 years. This 100-employee company specializing in commercial, residential, and industrial projects across the Carolinas is seeking a Construction Accountant. You will have the ability to work closely with the CFO, and manage project setup, oversee the AIA billing cycle, process lien releases, oversee sales and use tax compliance, and support the accounting cycle and monthly close processes. Compensation:
- $60,000 - $70,000 DOE
- 4-5% annual raises
- Christmas Bonus
Location: Charlotte, NC - Located just North of Center City
Schedule:
- Monday – Friday 7:30am-4:30pm
- Able to leave early on some Fridays during the summer
Responsibilities:
- Manage the monthly billing cycle by collaborating with project managers to prepare AIA documents, lien releases, sales tax reports, and second-tier lien releases.
- Support the month-end close process, including bank, balance sheet, and project reconciliations.
- Contribute to month-end reporting preparation for soft closes and quarterly reporting for hard closes.
- Support daily cash receipt processes, including posting and reconciliation.
- Ensure Accounts Receivable reports accurately reflect pre- and post-cash posting transactions.
- Reconcile Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to the general ledger on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Maintain compliance by properly recording and organizing all required documents.
- Assist with project coordination, including change orders and project setup.
- Manage sales and use tax for the organization
- Assist in year-end close, audit preparation, tax filings, and financial reporting.
- Identify and support process and procedure improvements to enhance efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years’ of accounting/bookkeeping experience performing construction accounting functions, including AIA billing.
- Strong experience and knowledge of AIA billing required.
- Sage 300 experience required.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
- Knowledgeable in the accounting cycle & monthly close process.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and computer savvy
- Textura/Procore/GC Pay or similar products is a plus
- Must be trustworthy, reliable, professional
