JOB DESCRIPTION
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, configuration, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of storage and backup solutions on the z/OS platform, including virtual tape, storage (DASD), storage management, and disaster recovery. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, provide technical leadership, and drive initiatives to enhance the performance, reliability, and security of our mainframe storage systems RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, deploy, and maintain storage and backup solutions on the z/OS platform, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and reliability.
Manage configuration and optimization of virtual tape, storage (DASD), and replication systems to meet business requirements, capacity needs, and performance objectives.
Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions to protect critical data and ensure business continuity.
Manage storage resources and capacity, ensuring adequate resources are available to meet current and future needs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for storage and backup systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to storage and backup systems, including performance bottlenecks, data corruption, and system failures.
Implement and enforce security measures to protect stored data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical expertise to members of the infrastructure, operations, and development teams.
Stay current with emerging storage and backup technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continuously improve system performance and efficiency.
Develop and maintain documentation, including storage configurations, backup policies, and disaster recovery plans
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in designing, implementing, and supporting CICS, CICS TG, CICSPlex, IMS/TM, and WMQ systems on the z/OS platform.
Experience with managed service providers, offshore support teams, and data center relocation is a plus.
Strong understanding of CICS, IMS/TM and WMQ performance tuning and optimization using tools like Omegamon and SysView.
Proficiency in mainframe network systems such as VTAM and TCP/IP.
Experience with mainframe security concepts and practices.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues.
Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proven leadership abilities, including experience leading technical projects and mentoring junior team members.
Relevant certifications (e.g., IBM Certified System Programmer for CICS/IMS, MQ System Administrator) preferred.
Availability for occasional off-hours support as needed.
