Chief Financial Officer| Construction
Summary: Our client in the Construction industry is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join their organization. The CFO will report to the President and be responsible for leading the development and execution of the company’s financial strategy and providing expertise by overseeing all financial operations, investments, insurance, cash flow management, and risk management. Compensation: Targeting $150,000 - $200,000 + 20 - 30% bonus
Location: Onsite in Charleston, SC
Responsibilities:
- Develop and enhance cash flow reports, key indicators report, and a comprehensive monthly financial reporting package
- Manage a team of five employees, including the Controller and associates
- Analyze financial statements, trend analysis, variances, and prepare financial reports for presentation to Board of Directors
- Establish and modify office and accounting policies and procedures
- Plan and perform risk management duties
- Study economic trends and project their impact on future growth in sales
- Monitor and modify overhead expenses to maximize value
- Analyze and manage the organization’s liabilities and investments
- Establish operating budgets and quarterly forecasts
- Manage WIP schedule and perform WIP reporting
- Evaluate financial, administrative, and information systems requirements and assist in the development, enhancement, and implementation of required systems
- Lead the development and use of best-practice policies and tools that ensure a well-controlled, yet flexible organization with strong fiscal management, project management, cross team communications and workflow
- Travel to onsite locations monthly to build relationships with employees and evaluate controls
- Monitor employee benefits and implement cost-effective changes, as necessary
- Manage the relationship with investors and external auditors
- Comply with federal, state, and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation and enforcing compliance
- Process all taxes (payroll, state taxes, federal taxes, etc.)
- Act as back up to the Controller who handles day to day accounting for the organization
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance; Master’s degree strongly preferred, CPA strongly preferred
- 7-10+ years of overall progressive well-rounded accounting and finance experience
- 3+ years of experience as a CFO (or possibly Controller) at a small to mid-sized company
- Prior Construction industry experience required
- Experience managing and coaching a team of employees
- Ability to be hands-on while also envisioning the big picture
- Domestic travel - 1 day of quarterly and possibly monthly travel
