Senior Tax Analyst  | Income & Franchise

Summary: Due to two recent promotions, one of our favorite clients in Greensboro, NC has two openings for Senior Tax Analysts! The Senior Tax Analyst for Income and Franchise, reports to the Tax Manager and is responsible for income and franchise tax, accounting, planning and compliance. This company with very low turnover and long-tenured employees offers great work life balance with rare overtime! The Senior Tax Analyst will work with a close-knit team, shadow and learn multiple sides of the business (finance, accounting, etc.) if they want, and have the opportunity to be promoted vertically and horizontally! This person will be able to learn some of the indirect tax side of the business, as well as help suggest and implement process improvements for the tax department to help the overall success of the organization.

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina – HYBRID schedule!

Compensation: $80,000 to $85,000 + 5% bonus

Hybrid Schedule : 2 days REMOTE and 3 days onsite

Hours: Office hours are very flexible – 40-45 hours a week (very little overtime)

Core Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of the US federal and state income and franchise tax returns, estimated tax calculations, and estimated tax payments
  • Prepare monthly income tax provisions based on IFRS accounting standards and maintain related tax accounts in the general ledger
  • Assist with the development of tax accrual projections as part of the strategic financial planning and budgeting process
  • Maintain and reconcile tax fixed assets and depreciation
  • Research questions and issues raised by the business regarding federal, state, and local taxes
  • Help the sales and property tax team solve complex issues
  • Act as a business consultant on all matters of tax compliance including income, franchise, sales, property, and payroll tax issues, including providing guidance as to the interpretations of various sections of the tax law
  • Respond to tax notices issued by various tax authorities
  • Assist with tax audits initiated by various tax authorities or internal control
  • Assist with large research projects and other tax-related projects

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS in Accounting or Tax, CPA preferred
  • 3+ years progressive tax experience with public accounting firm and/or multistate company
  • 3+ years of experience preparing U.S. federal and multistate income tax returns
  • Experience with corporate tax compliance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Sales tax, property tax, capital equipment finance or lease accounting experience is a bonus
  • OneSource, Sage, Alteryx, Checkpoint and BNA software is a plus
