Accounting Manager
We are partnering with a large, publicly traded global organization on a newly created Accounting Manager opportunity within its Operational Accounting team. This role offers a great combination of general accounting, people leadership, process improvement, and high-visibility projects. The Accounting Manager will report to the Senior Accounting Manager and lead a team of 1-3 Accountants. This person will oversee and perform more complex accounting work across areas including operational accounting, commissions, profit sharing, inventory, procurement, third-party transportation/vendors, revenue recognition, and some payroll-related activities. Location: Fort Mill, SC (10 minutes from Charlotte!)
Hybrid Flexibility: 4 days onsite/1 day remote - with very flexible hours!
Compensation: $140,000 - $160,000 + 15% bonus depending on experience-level, education, and certifications.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a small accounting team
- Manage and review month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses
- Review and perform more complex accounting and methodology analyses
- Support accounting for commissions, profit sharing, inventory, procurement, revenue recognition, and operational/field activities
- Own key relationships with external auditors and coordinate audit requests and deliverables
- Own and support assigned SOX controls
- Analyze financial results and identify accounting or process issues
- Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, Payroll, Procurement, and other teams
- Drive process improvement, automation, and standardization across accounting processes
- Help influence and improve accounting policies, methodologies, and procedures
Projects & Opportunities
This role will have significant opportunity to improve and modernize processes, including:
- An upcoming commission system implementation in which Accounting will play a major role
- Improving and streamlining the profit-sharing process
- Identifying automation opportunities within inventory accounting
- Potential improvements to fuel inventory accounting and methodology
- Modernizing balance sheet reconciliation processes
- Helping build more scalable and efficient accounting processes as the organization continues to grow
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or Big 4/largev regional audit experience
- Recent experience in a manager-level role with direct reports
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, and journal entries
- Experience with SOX/internal controls
- Exposure to commissions, profit sharing, inventory, payroll, inventory, and/or revenue recognition experience is nice to have
- Process improvement, automation, or systems implementation experience preferred
- CPA preferred but not required; obtaining a CPA would be beneficial for future advancement
