Human Resources Specialist

The Human Resources Specialist will work closely with Operations, Field HR, and Corporate HR teams to deliver timely and professional assistance. Additionally, this role serves as the primary contact for unemployment inquiries and supports post-employment benefits administration through shared HR systems and portals.
Opportunity: 6-month contract
Compensation: $35/hour
Location: HYBRID- Charlotte, NC
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8-5
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for unemployment-related inquiries from associates, managers, state agencies, and third-party administrator.
- Review, process, and manage unemployment claims, ensuring compliance with legal and company requirements.
- Assist managers and associates with employment verification and unemployment claim-related questions.
- Maintain accurate HRIS records and case management files related to unemployment claims.
- Provide guidance and system support to associates, managers and HR Business Partners using HR portals, intranet, and vendor systems.
- Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with internal HR teams, Operations, and Corporate stakeholders.
- Research and resolve HR inquiries related to post-employment benefits and other shared services functions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, HR best practices, and employment legislation.
- Input, update, and retrieve employee data using SAP, PeopleHub/Employee Central, and other HR systems.
- Generate reports and analyze unemployment claim trends to support business decision-making.
- Assist in HR process improvements by identifying opportunities for efficiency and accuracy.
- Contribute to HR policy updates and ensure alignment with legal and organizational requirements.
- Support various HR committees and workgroups, assisting in the design and implementation of new HR programs.
- Research best practices in post-employment benefits and unemployment claim management to recommend process enhancements.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of HR Generalist or HR Shared Services experience, preferably in a large organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience with unemployment claims, employee benefits, or HR compliance is a plus.
- Previous HRIS experience is preferred; SAP and PeopleHub/Employee Central experience is a plus.
- Strong computer skills, including HR data management, report generation, and case tracking.
- Ability to analyze HR and payroll data for accuracy and compliance.
- Experience working with governmental agencies related to unemployment claims is a plus.
