Job Summary: CRG is seeking a Union Accounting Director for a large client based out of southwest Charlotte, NC. In this role, you will lead a team of approximately 17 Union Accounting employees of various levels, ensuring compliance with CBA/contract terms for benefit contributions and union dues, as well as proper interpretations of labor agreement provisions. With this leadership role, you will set the standard, managing and updating procedural documentation, training and developing the team, ensuring team standards and SLAs are met, and conducting all necessary follow-up to verify customer needs are met in a timely and successful manner.

Location: Charlotte – SW (Airport area)

  • Hybrid – 3 days onsite, 2 days remote

 Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of 16-17 union accountants, analysts, auditors, supervisors, and managers, focusing on team training and development and standards for accuracy, timeliness, and customer service.
  • Review collective bargaining language, verifying compliance to company policies. 
  • Work with union fund leaders to establish communication and positive working relationships.
  • Review external vendors’ disputes from audit team, as well as database discrepancy reports, and track metrics on findings.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve team’s efficiency and increase the department’s value to the company.
  • Serve as key player in the resolution of complex problems relating to research, reconciliation, and union payments of all types.
  • Analyze and interpret labor agreements (CBA’s) to determine correct payable amounts and payment timetables.
  • Review contribution calculations monthly and post to SAP.
  • Implement and document new policies & procedures and establish and maintain metrics to measure performance for each team member.
  • Partner with labor relations on CBA verbiage issues, policy, and process changes and support labor relations with any ad hoc requests.
  • Apply critical thinking skills to make independent assessments, articulate recommendations, and defend conclusions.
  • Understand data drivers to provide support and follow-up analysis to sector finance and key customers.
  • Maintain sensitivity to confidential business data.
  • Partner with multiple internal teams and represent the department in project meetings as needed.
  • Establish and develop open communication and interaction with the team, field associates, regional accountants, and other internal and external customers as needed to ensure your team’s success. 
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of managerial experience
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in a multi-billion-dollar corporation, preferably some in accounts payable or union accounting
  • Proficient in Excel 
  • Experience in reading/interpreting contracts highly preferred
  • SAP, PowerBI and Access experience preferred
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
  • Team player in a fast paced and constantly changing, but still deadline-driven, environment
