The Hardware Transition Engineer is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the setup and delivery of workstations for new hires and the organization workstation refresh schedule.  They are charged with surveying, ordering, receiving, configuring, and delivering workstations to support the computing needs of company users. The Hardware Transition Engineer works as a member of the Hardware Transition team and is charged to understand the goals/objectives of that team.
RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Provide analysis and assist end users to match computing needs to approved hardware options.
  • Distribute quarterly survey process for lease life cycle candidates.
  • Coordinate vendor bulk orders and maintain inventories for refresh cycles.
  • Maintain End User lifecycle processes, procedures, and documentation.
  • Order, receive, setup, and distribute user workstations for new hires and in alignment with the approved workstation refresh life cycle.
  • Coordinate and track vendor orders and keep management and customers informed of order status.
  • Perform warranty and non-warranty hardware repairs as a Self-Maintainer through our hardware vendors (Dell / HP / Lenovo / Apple)
  • Track workstations in alignment with established asset management processes.
  • Receive and decommission end of use/life PC equipment in alignment with established processes and standards.
  • Back-up and migrate data for workstation replacements in alignment with established departmental standards, ensuring compliance with legal retention policies.
  • Migrate user profile settings and data to refreshed equipment to minimize user impact.
  • Coordinate and facilitate shipping activities for equipment in alignment with established processes.
  • Return End of Lease equipment to leasing & disposal companies.
  • Serve as primary resource for hardware escalations.
  • Provide Tier 2 support for workstation software / vendor issue.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Typically, 5+ years’ experience
  • Experience with hardware, software, and peripheral devices in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with device lifecycle management, disposal, and legal retention.
  • Experience troubleshooting software / hardware issues.
  • Proficiency with root cause analysis
  • Experience with imaging products (ie. Ghost, MDT, SCCM, etc.)
  • Asset management systems & processes
  • Experience with the following OS: 
    • Microsoft Workstation OS (Windows 11/10/8/7)
    • Apple OS (iOS, OS x)
  • Experience with the following endpoint software products.
    • Microsoft Office / Office 365
    • Adobe Software
  • A+ Hardware Certification desired
  • Lenovo / Dell / HP / Apple Hardware Certification desired
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
