Junior Accountant

One of the largest local CPA firms in the Triad area, established over 70 years ago, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team! This individual will participate in both audit and tax responsibilities including the compilation and review of engagements and reviewing financial statements, as well as the preparation of federal and state tax income tax returns for businesses. 

Location: Winston-Salem, NC (Hybrid schedule!) 
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

Responsibilities: 

• Participate in the compilation and review of engagements, including planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases.
• Conduct reviews of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and GAAS.
• Assess internal controls and recommend improvements.
• Prepare workpapers and document findings.
• Assist in the preparation of audit reports and presentations for clients.
• Communicate audit findings and recommendations to clients and senior management.
• Prepare federal and state income tax returns for business clients.
• Conduct tax research and stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations.
• Maintain accurate and organized tax records.
• Collaborate with other team members on tax projects and initiatives.

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 1+ years of experience in public audit and/or tax 
• Strong understanding of GAAP, GAAS, and tax regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
